John thinks, since there are actual "storylines" going on from time to time, that we should group the comments by month rather than by individual strip.  Since that makes my job easier, I'm all for it.

You can start commenting from today's strip onward if you like.  Since there are only 28 days in most Februarys, I think it's OK if we borrow a day from January.  It has an extra day anyhow.

ok, I did know that in the movie, Bill Murray was supposed to keep waking up on groundhog's day, but I did not know how many times, because I've yet to see it!

PS: talking about groundhogs, Punxsutawney Phil did not see it's shadow today, predicting a early spring for the first time since 1999!

Funny, I used to live in central Pennsylvania, and it's really hard to believe that he'd have seen his shadow that frequently.  It was hardly ever sunny there, especially in the wintertime!

Of course, I'm probably pretty spoiled living out here in the desert.

Get off my board, John!  I gave you your very own board.  Stop harassing the people who want to talk to me!!!

Oh, and campsoup, be sure to check the movie out.  It's quite funny.  I'm sure it's probably on TV somewhere today.

No, I've never had groundhog.  Unfortunately, we don't have any groundhogs living around here.  They just look so plump and juicy - very little work for a lot of meat.  They probably taste like chicken.

Sandusky, are you jealous of the baby cougar on John's shoulder?

Not at all.  I still get up on Scott's back from time to time.  He typically has to wear protective clothing, though.  If I start slipping at all, these claws of mine have a mind of their own - he's got all sorts of marks on his back.

It's rare that John allows me to jump on his back.  He claims that he wants to look good for the ladies, and claw marks over most of his body aren't all that attractive to women.  You see, Scott already has a girlfriend, and she knows just where those marks come from.  But I enjoy it when John lets me up there.  He's a few inches taller than Scott, and I enjoy the higher perspective on things.

You're welcome to sit on my shoulders if you want. Metal doesn't scratch as easily as skin. I'm kinda short though, so wouldn't be a very good vantage point.

How short is short?  You know I'm pushing 150 pounds.  Also, I'm afraid metal might chafe my pawpads.  But feel free to stop on by if you're in the area.

And bring me a steak, too.

Sandusky, I was wondering:  can you tell whether the mountain lion cub in John's avatar photograph is a boy or a girl?  It's sometimes hard for me to distinguish human babies (so I understand if you can't tell offhand), but I thought I'd ask.

It's hard to tell sometimes, just using a photograph.  As a cougar, I typically employ more of my senses to distinguish different people/animals than a human would.  The best way for me to tell who's who is actually by using my ears.  I've been known to intercept Soviet radio stations with these babies.

As for this particular cub on John's back, she's a girl.  John says she's got a brother who's almost one and a half times her size.  You can really tell when you get them next to each other.  But with her just by herself, it can be pretty tough.  We typically don't use blue and pink clothes to distinguish the sexes.

Not that it would help anyway.

perhapse a bow around an ear for a girl, and a top hat or bowler for a guy.

The bow might work, but I doubt you'd be able to keep a hat on a cougar cub.  Plus, I wouldn't want to look like Oliver Hardy wearing a derby (bowler hat).

You could just do it like Pac-Man, where the girl wears a bow and the boy goes au natural.

I wonder what those pellets are made of - especially the big ones in the corners.  All of a sudden he can chase down ghosts?  That's got to be some strong stuff.  It'd have to be like industrial strength catnip or something.

Pacnip.

Well, the hat could have a strap to hold the hat on like the following:

That's just one more thing for the cubs to chew on.  They'd be through that in no time.
