They do that for animals, too.  There's a panda in Wash DC who was inseminated with frozen sperm from a panda in San Diego.

The same thing can be done for dogs (show dogs, usually).  I know someone who owns a dog who was created that way.

Im sure they do it for race horses and breeding programs for many of the endangered animals.
