Well, that depends on the BabelFish translation. I can tell you that Sandusky was supposed to have said "Why are you here?". But, for all I know, he could have said "Monkey chicken cheese balls". If anyone on here can actually read Japanese, I'd appreciate either a confirmation that Dusker's text was correct or knowledge of a major faux pas I may have committed. ![]()

Mmhmm, that's the problem when you try to introduce a foreign language without actual language skills. Reminds me of Star Wars and the fictional martial arts know as "Teräs Käsi", named by someone apparently trying to translate "steel hand" into Finnish, too bad the correct way to write that would be as a compound word "Teräskäsi". ;) (teräs = steel, käsi = hand) Of course, the incorrect grammar could be intentional to make it look better, but still. And Sedona looks really adorable in the third panel by being so confused. Naughty Bunker for indirectly playing with her mind! |

I entered "Why are you here?" into Babelfish, then I took the Japanese text and converted it back into English. The translation came out "Why is it here?" |

In Spanish, ¿Por qué está aquí? can be "Why is he here?", "Why is she here?", or "Why is it here?". I'm guessing there's something similar that occurs in the Japanese language. There may be another word that can be added to distinguish "it" and "you" (like el or ella in Spanish), or it may all simply rely on context. Then again, I could be way off. --Last edited by john on 2008-07-29 11:49:22 --

I wish there was a decent English <-> Kanji or Romanji <-> Kanji translators. --Last edited by campsoup1988 on 2008-07-29 12:09:25 --

Sedona the proud mother with her three cubs was quite priceless yesterday, so cute! And three mini-me's instead of one, no wonder Sadusky thinks his vision is funky. ![]() Seems that 'uncle Sandusky' isn't as enthusiastic as he ought to be, expecially when compared to Sedona who seems to be even prouder of them than before. Though I think I would have the same reaction if I was the one covered in playful cougar cubs. Well, at least they now have some kind of a male role model. |
