Hey, Sandusky, did Scott ever tell you about Snagglepuss, the mountain lion on the Hanna-Barbera Huckleberry Hound TV Show?
If you get "nipped" again, you might run into him.  He used to run around with Yogi Bear and BooBoo.

He didn't have all the neat mountain lion markings that you have and he was very 2-dimensional.  Maybe he needs rounding out a little.

Or am I showing my age here?

Exit, stage left.

Yeah, I love Snagglepuss!  Stage left even...

There's this really cool channel called Boomerang.  It's way up on channel 142, but it's got all sorts of old cartoons.  That includes SuperFriends, which is one of Bunker's favorites.

But I agree with you, Snagglepuss is very two dimensional.  I have a much more rounded personality.

I intend to live forever.  So far, so good.

And that color... Snaggle had some issues with his wardrobe.

Why don't you ask John to let you do a Snagglepuss schtick while you're "nipped" out? Then Snagglepuss can get a wardrobe re-design and a dimensional upgrade.  He definitely needs more mountain lion markings.
I mean, how can he go around in the 21st century looking like bleached out version of the Pink Panther?
Lessee, Bunker and Sierra as BooBoo and Yogi.  Kashmir as the Ranger.  Now that would be wild.

BTW, I do a series of books about cougar and cheetah-like prehistoric big cats called the Ratha series.  I LOVED the "everyone has sabers" gag.
Hope you don't get hungry (does catnip give you the munchies?) while you're tripping, since you won't be able to open your mouth wide enough to clear those teeth.
As far as I know, pumas and cheetahs don't have the same drop-down jaw design that old Smilodon did. Of course, it is your hallucination.

If you are Smilodon populator, then your jaw has to open about 130 degrees to clear those teeth. Most of today's cats can open their mouths to about 90 degrees. Of course, there were many other sabercats besides Smilodon.  Meganteron, Homotherium, Xenosmilus and the whole gang.
See a book called The Big Cats and Their Fossil Relatives, by Anton and Turner.

Of course, Sandusky must have a unique jaw design to take in so many Whoppers all at once....

Hey Sandusky, did you know that your prehistoric ancestor was probably a cheetah-like cat called Miracinonyx?  (Kashmir is Acinonyx jubatis - if memory serves.)

I don't even know who my parents are!  How do you know who my prehistoric ancestor is?!  Did you find it on one of those family tree websites, like ancestry.com or genealogy.com?

I always thought the Hanna Barbera cartoons (Yogi, Huckleberry Hound, Jetsons & even the Flintstones) paled in comparison to the WB cartoons. Looking back now, I was comparing Warner Bros.' Merrie Melodies and Loony Tunes cartoons from the 30s, 40s & 50s and comparing that to the 60s-era Hanna Barbera cartoons, which isn't a fair comparison. The later Bugs Bunny et al cartoons made in the 60s and 70s had sloppier artwork and music, so it was about the same. The even newer Tiny Toons were awful, in my opinion. Real cartoons came back with Roger Rabbit & the Animaniacs - and of course Pixar.

Well, WB had the immensely talented Chuck Jones for the Daffys and Bugses.  Are there any WB cartoons with a mountain lion or other big kitty?

Hanna Barbera had a different style (and a different budget). And they had Snagglepuss (Sanduskius whopperlator subspecies
jellystonus?)

Now I'm really being silly.

I like coining fictional scientific names, basing them on real ones.  My clan cats are descendants of the cheetah-like Dinaelurus crassus, so I call them Dinaelurus illumina sapiens (Terrible, cat, enlightnened, sapient).

As you can gather, I'm a prehistoric mammal (big cats) fan.
Which is why I love the whole saber schtick.

Does the giant armadillo have sabers?

Hey, Sabercat, what is your species?

I must be really dense, but I can't seem to upload my avatar photo to this site. Is there a trick to it?

Rathacat: I had trouble using the forum's own avatar storage thingy, so I just posted a photo to my personal website and linked to that. If you like, I can stick your photo on my site and you can link to it that way.

Make sure it's within the proper pixel limits.  Sometimes it gets uploaded and "grows an extra pixel".  For example, I once loaded a picture I was certain was at 120 pixels wide.  When I checked it's online properties, it was 121 pixels wide.  I have no idea why that was.

If a direct upload doesn't work, you can try hosting your pics on Photobucket (or something similar).  I think that's where all of mine are.  If you don't want to set up a new account there (it's free), I can host your avatar for you.  Just e-mail it to me, and I'll send you the link.

I had to wait until today's strip was posted before responding to this.  I don't like it when people know where the story is going before I get there.
