What is it about you and Whoppers? How did that get started?

Bunker turned me on to Whoppers when I was younger.  I had to find a way to get the taste of Rottweiler out of my mouth, so he suggested those.  Why I had the taste of Rottweiler in my mouth is a story unto itself.  You can read that story in my comic book "Growing Pains".  (John won't let me tell it here)

Why do I like them, though?  I suppose it's partly because of how easy they are for me to eat.  They're in cartons that I can open without too much trouble.  While I like M&Ms and candy bars, I don't do too well with little bags.  I usually end up losing more than half of my M&Ms when I try to open up the bag by myself.  I can't open them without using my claws, and, when I do use my claws, I tend to... overuse them.

I intend to live forever.  So far, so good.

Ok. I can see bags being a problem, especially the smaller ones.

Do they have chocolate in them?  I know chocolate's bad for cats, but i don't know about kats - also with more body mass, a kat might be able to handle it more easily.

A couple of items of note regarding Whoppers and chocolate toxicity (mainly from about.com)...

Theobromine is the main toxic ingredient in chocolate for both dogs and cats (and presumably "kats", as well).  The toxic dose of Theobromine for pets is 100-200mg/kg. (1 kilogram = 2.2 pounds). However, various reports by the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) have noted problems at doses much lower than this - i.e. 20mg/kg.

Using the ASPCA numbers, a 50 pound dog would have to consume 9 ounces (+/-) of milk chocolate to consume the 20mg/kg amount of Theobromine. Some dogs won't see problems at this rate. Some may.

That means Sandusky would have to consume 30-40 ounces  (2-2.5 pounds) of milk chocolate for it to be toxic (using the ASPCA levels).  The average amount of time the Theobromine is in an animal's system is about 17.5 hours.  So, in other words, Sandusky would need to eat about seven full cartons of Whoppers in less than a day to be in danger (12 oz per carton with about half of that being chocolate - the other half is malted milk).

If the standard (non-ASPCA) numbers are used, Sandusky would need to consume nearly 70 cartons of Whoppers in a 17.5 hour period to be in trouble.  That's nearly 5,000 Whoppers!  I'm not even sure Sandusky could handle that.  And, if he tried, I think he'd be facing some other issues prior to any Theobromine toxicity.

**Please note that I'm rather tired and I may very well have completely botched the calculations above**

At the grocery store in the freezer section, I saw some icecream sandwhiches intended for pets.  Out of curiosity, I bought them and tried one.

It was unusually unsweet for icecream, and it had a bit of a fishy aftertaste, but otherwise it was allright.

I don't remember the name, but the sandwiches themselves resembled ones from this article

I don't want anyone to think I'm endorsing them as a snack.  They're not bad, especially if you don't have a sweet tooth and don't mind a weird oily aftertaste, but I bought them merely for curiosity.
