I was surfing the net and found these pics from the ARHS QLD Div (Australian Railway Historical Society, Queensland Division) Preserved branchline in the next town over.

These locos were in a similar condition when purchased and since they are kept out in the open, due to lack of funds to erect a shed over them, they are getting worse. Does anyone else think it is a shame to let Queensland's Railway history rust into the ground? The Government should do something to preserve the Railway heritage of this great land but at the moment it is the Volunteers, operating on donations, and the companies like QR (Queensland Rail) Heritage to restore and maintain these old gems of the past. They deserve to be preserved for future generations to love and admire.

The same railway has been working around the clock and have almost completed the Restoration of C17 No.720 (Which is of the same class as the first two pics.)

Its one of these:

I once visited a bicycling path called the Saint Marks Trail in Northern Florida.  The path follows a historic railway, and along the way there are segments of railway and even a train preserved.

I haven't seen him on the forums in awhile, but LionKingCMSL is a big train enthusiast.

I was always a big fan of trains growing up, but we don't get too much out in my area now.  There are only a handful of freight lines that go into and out of the Phoenix area, and they're 20 miles from my place.  We don't even have a light rail mass transit system yet (though we've got a whole crapload of construction going on for it right now).

Bugger, where i am we're about 150 metres from the mainline between the city of Ipswich and the city of Toowoomba in South East Queensland. Almost all the operational Steam locos are stationed in Ipswich and when another is restored they send it on a test run up the Toowoomba range and back. We mostly get the coal trains with a few cattle and container trains to break the boredom.

Queensland is technicly still in the Steam era as one of our Steam engines (The last built)was never taken off the books and is still operational and has since been joined by an ever increasing number of locos that are coming back onto the books and doing regular suburban runs once or twice a month.

BB18 1/4 class No. 1089 (Front) and 1079 (Rear) head an excursion up the Toowoomba range. 1089 was the loco never taken off the books.
