I'm trying to learn more about the artist licensing royalties, especially the normal percentage (of net or gross) that the artist receives for licensing art.  Is this something you've had to deal with?  (If you haven't yet, I'm sure you will get offers.)

Thanks,

Kristina L.

Unfortunately, it's not something I've had to deal with yet, but thanks for the positive encouragement.

Being that I've never sold anything to anybody outside of Internet-land, I can't really help you out with percentages.  But, what I do know about newspaper comic strips is that the artists typically split profits about 50/50 with the syndicates.

Thanks, John.

Hmm, 50-50.  Well, I do know that galleries usually take 30% - 40% on paintings to sell.  I've been doing some research, and so far, it looks like 5-14% is about what can be expected from licensing, which seems kinda small, but what do I know.
