--Last edited by Fox McCloud on 2007-05-09 06:39:49 --

I don't know what you two are talking about. I don't speak Spanish. But, I do enjoy teasing Sandusky by turning to Univision and Telemundo when he falls asleep. I think it messes with his dreams. By the way, how do you get those neat accent thingies over your letters. I know there's supposed to be one in Univision, but all I see are smiley faces.

Also, in Windows you can install new language formats for your keyboard. Control Panel -> Regional and Language Options -> Languages tab -> Details button Once you add a new language, you can switch to that input mode by clicking the language-switcher button that appears on the Start bar. ![]() (This image might be deleted later.) Then, it's a matter of learning to use the new keyboard layout. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keyboard_layout --Last edited by yuoofox on 2007-04-27 18:58:15 -- |

(Note: I've provided literal interlinear translations for you, Bunker.) Gracias, Profesor Estrella Zorro. ;) Los acentos son Thanks, Professor Star Fox. The accents are muy difíciles para mí. Yo hablo ingles, español, y un poco very difficult for me. I speak English, Spanish, and a little de coreano. It is a little funny. My Mom is of Korea, and yo he visitado dos tiempos, pero hablo más español que I have visited two times, but I speak more Spanish than coreano. I am happy that him it pleases my language artificial, Feni . I understand that no it is useful en the life verdadera, pero es divertido para hacer. real, but it is fun to make. --Last edited by yuoofox on 2007-04-28 07:19:21 -- |

Yuoo, even I found your literal interlinear translation hard to follow; imagine what poor Bunker would think when he sees it. Anyway, Bunker, do any of your friends (Scott, Ashley, Sandusky, John, or Sierra) know Spanish or any other foreign languages? --Last edited by Fox McCloud on 2007-04-29 12:43:03 --

Fox McCloud, Ashley might speak another language, but I haven't really discussed it with her. I know Sierra doesn't, even though her name is Spanish for mountain (I think). Sandusky might speak a little Spanish, because I keep turning to Telemundo when he's asleep, but I don't think he knows he can speak it. ;) John does speak some Spanish and some Italian. He says it's more of a "Spitalian", because he doesn't speak either of them fluently, and they tend to be very similar. He says he drifts back and forth from one to the other without knowing it.

Once, I went to an Italian restaurant called the Macaroni Grill. (very yummy, by the way) In this restaurant, they give you a full-sized tablecoth made out of paper and a pack of crayons, and the waiter or waitress draws their name on it and encorages you to draw something while you wait for your food. Well, I like to draw mazes (an example ), so I drew a maze. In the "goal" of the maze, I wrote, "Thank you. The food was magnificent!" in what I thought was Italian (because the waitress had already spoken to me a little bit in Italian). Well, when I finished my meal and the waitress came to get my check, she looked at the maze and said, "Oh! You speak Spanish! So do I." And then, we talked with each other in Spanish. It was kinda funny. |

If you use a Mac, you can add the accents by using the option (alt) key. For some accents it takes two strokes - for instance, if you want to type "é" hold down the option key and type "e," - that will give you the accent. Then type the letter you want (in this case, "e" again), and the é appears. So, î is option/"e" then "i." Sounds complicated, but it's easy and you don't need control codes.

Yeah, my Spanish teacher tells me that using a Mac is much easier for her. Say, does anyone know how to do accents in Linux? |

(Pardon the typos. I blame my Mac's Korean input method for some of them, since it won't let me put a "san-siot" (double s, or ㅆ) in the bottom of a character block. )-Stian --Last edited by stian on 2007-06-21 22:32:39 -- |

AltaVista Babel Fish is pretty cool, but it's not exact. 대학교에서 한국어를 2년 공부 햇서요. translates as "How are you, the yuoofox Sea! The difficulty stands the Korean language arrowhead only acts end possibility Is. The Korean language 2 year study new it stands from the university." I think I got the gist of it, though.

Wow! Very, cool Stein. To be honest, I speak more Spanish than I do Korean. Spanish is a fine language, of course, but it would be nice if I could speak with my grandmother. Here is what I was able to pick out from your text: "Greetings, Yuoofox! [something] Korean a-little-bit [something] [some verb]. School Korean 2 [something] [some verb]." I spent the summer in Korea a couple of years ago, and I've been to Korean summer school at my church, but I'm still rusty. Still, it's nice talking with you. Maybe this will help me learn more. Sincerely, 여우 팍스 |

The translation goes something like this: 안녕 하세요, yuoofox씨는! Hello, yuoofox! I can speak only a little bit of Korean. At the university, I studied Korean language for two years. At least, that's what I intended for it to say. As a native speaker of Norwegian, Korean is not the easiest of languages to study. After two years, my vocabulary was probably on par with the average Korean toddler, and my fluency nowhere near that of a toddler. And since then, I've gotten pretty rusty. I'd like to travel to South Korea someday, and see if a bit of language immersion would help me improve. But that won't happen anytime soon. --Last edited by stian on 2007-06-23 10:25:44 -- |

Odd that a native Norwegian speaker wouldn't pick up Korean.

I know what you mean. Learning another Latin-based language is easier. If you do visit Korea, I think you will enjoy it. ![]() |
