I just received an e-mail from Ka-Blam!, and apparently the books are set to print within the next few days.  Once you factor in shipping time, I would expect to have the books in hand by early the following week.  I'll be mailing them out as soon as I can after that.

So...progress!

WHOO HOO! The USPS service thanks you. In my impatience I believe their postal workers have drown heavily on their health insurance claims.

Yeah! I hope you don't send my book by USPS Ground.    (I have sometimes ordered computer parts from the US by USPS Ground, the delivery normally takes 2-3 months, sometimes even longer)

WOW! I'd be very irate too, there wouldn't be many post officers left by the time the book came!

The book has officially moved from "awaiting print" to "printing".  Of course, there are more than a dozen others currently printing.  Also, there are more than 15,000 pages of Sandusky to print in all.  I'm sure that will take some time.  ;)

Well, if you've had something delivered overseas via "ground", you've got to take into account that it takes a while for the postman to traverse the ocean floor.

By sea slug, as well.

A year or so ago I sold a set of Checker wheel covers to a guy in Poland. (How many Checker cabs made it to Poland? Is this guy building himself a Checker one part at a time?)

It took 3 months to get there. It was cheap, so we couldn't really complain. But I wonder - do they just send the USPS ground stuff over on some freighter, so they have to wait for the next freighter that's going to, say, Poland?

Personally I assume that's roughly how it works, because it's so slow and erratic. Once I had a seller send me 24 packets by USPS Ground, the first one of them arrived roughly after two months, and one month later the rest came in three bunches during a one-month span. And of course some of them went into customs and some came straight to me so I had to straighten that out too (have to pay customs and tax, you know).

But I still consider myself lucky since that was the longest I've had to wait when using USPS Ground, one of my friends bought a used computer (non-PC machine that couldn't be had from Europe) from the US and waited for it for over six months, he had nearly lost hope when it finally arrived.
